What is an ecig?IntroductionPerhaps you've found this site and are saying to yourself, "What is this all about?"Maybe you're a new user of an electronic cigarette and don't really know the details. This page is for you. There are a lot of names for these devices. Electronic Cigarette, e-Cig, E-Cigarette, electronic nicotine inhaler, personal vaporizer, etc... No matter what you call them, they all basically work the same. Electronic cigarettes contain no tobacco. There is no flame or ignition source. The "smoke" produced is not smoke, but vapor. There are a large number of flavors, you can see our selection here. As of this writing we have 69 flavors, a whole that more flavors than that ice cream company... Electronic cigarettes do not smell bad, and most times don't smell at all. With some very strong flavors (like Cherry) sometimes other people can smell it. The most common comment you'll hear is "that smells good!" - when was the last time you heard that about a traditional tobacco cigarette? What are the differences between e-Cigarette models? There are a tremendous number of variations in e-Cigarettes. Some attempt to mimic the size and shape of traditional cigarettes, others are considerably larger, some don't even look like cigarettes at all. We're often asked why we don't sell some of the common smaller e-cigarettes. The answer is simple; in our experience, people who buy smaller e-cigs quickly become unsatisfied by them, and often switch back to smoking or upgrade to the models we sell. We'd prefer to spare you that disappointment and provide you with a product that will meet your needs from day one.How does it work?In general, an e-Cigarette requires three components. A power source, an atomizer and a mouthpiece or cartridge. These three components work together to vaporize a mixture that you inhale, delivering nicotine, flavor and vapor. For most eliquids, the mixture contains a base liquid (Propylene Glycol), flavoring and varying levels of nicotine. Our nicotine levels can be had from 11mg/ml (equivalent of a light cigarette) through 18mg/ml (equivalent to a standard full flavor cigarette) and on to 36mg/ml (High, for those who really love nicotine). The flavors are varied, from tobacco to fruit flavors all the way to specialty flavors like Menthol, Chocolate or even Coffee.Note:We do not sell elquid in strengths higher than 36mg/ml and strongly recommend that you stay away from anyone who does. Concentrations beyond 36mg/ml are, in our opinion, not safe! The power sourceIn general, this is a protected lithium ion battery, although there some devices known as a "passthrough" that can be plugged into a USB port or A/C Adapter for continuous power without recharging. The atomizerThe atomizer is the workhorse of the e-Cigarette. This is where the eliquid (or "juice") is converted into vapor. The atomizer contains a coil that heats up the eliquid turning it into nicotine and flavor infused vapor that you inhale. The Cartridge or MouthpieceFinally, there is the cartridge/mouthpiece. The cartridge generally consists of a mouthpiece and an inner cartridge that is filled with a foam like batting soaked in eliquid. There are also "dripping tips" available which allow you to directly drip eliquid onto the atomizer. Good ValueA 10 ml bottle of eliquid lasts for about the same amount of time as 100 traditional tobacco cigarettes. (Your mileage may vary, and each person may use more or less depending on usage).Think about the cost savings... When was the last time you paid $8.99 for a carton of cigarettes? There are many more accessories, gadgets and variations out there, but this should give you a general feel for what an e-Cig, or Personal Vaporizer is. Have a question? Contact us. |
